Although the winter weather has not been kind recently when out at the weekends, I have managed to find a couple of outings which yielded some reasonable photographic results.
The first of these was an almost fruitless trip to Middlebere, on the opposite side of the Arne RSPB Nature reserve. Fruitless as nothing came close to the hide for photographic purposes until late on when a Little Egret appeared up close. The afternoon was still enjoyable – spotting the Peregrin and Marsh Harrier in the distance, as well as other birds in the estuary. Here are the two shots I kept from that day taken on Canon 5D MkIV with Canon 500mm IS II L and 1.4x Converter.
A walk from Tuckton to Wick Fields yielded a better return. These taken on the same camera but with the Canon 100-400mm IS L.
First a black-headed gull on a bombing run over the River Stour
Then over the fields at Wick these godwits were put to flight by something – sawing about in the sky.
If you know the area around Wick Fields then this signpost will be familiar – its been around as long as I can remember.
Finally at the end of the fields these 4 Magpies were resting in a tree.
