Torridon is a village, estate and area on the North West Coast of Scotland. The mountains and views around the area are superb, providing vistas for budding landscape photographers. But that is not all, the Loch itself is home to wildlife such as Dolphins, Seals and Otters that can be occasionally seen an photographed. In the village there is a Deer Sanctuary, where Red Deer can be seen, along with a museum. By this there is a wildlife hide that overlooks the end of the Loch.
The small village has a General Store, and a Youth Hostel. A visitor center is at the entrance to the village road, which can provide information, maps and guides to the many walks that are available round the area. A large hotel ( The Torridon ) is situated between the village of Torridon and the nearby village of ShielDaig. This offers hiking and other outdoor activities.
Much of the roads around the area are single track A roads, on which passing places are available to allow faster road users to pass. Just up the road is the magnificent Benn Eighe ( a Scottish Natural Trust site ) and Loch Maree.
Care of course should be taken on the high mountains when visiting, proper clothing, maps and compass etc should be taken.
