Mudeford Bay

Christchurch Priory from Stanpit Marshes

Mudeford Bay is accessible from three main points and offers the photographer access to an unspoilt natural harbour, which offers opportunities to photograph wild birds ( especially sea birds in the winter months), water sports & landscape shots of the bay, Mudeford Quay and Hengistbury Head.

The two main places to park up and walk near the bay are at Hengistbury Head Car Park, and also at Mudeford Quay ( though this offers less walking options on that side of the bay, a ferry can be caught to cross to the other side). Parking at Hengistbury Headalso offers the chance to take a road (Noddy) train from the car park to the beach huts on the far side of the headland. The other place to see the bay is Stanpit Marshes – which we will cover in a seperate location page.

Cafes can be found near the car parks and by the colourful beach huts, which are well worth taking. The Quay itself is a working fishing harbour, so there is opportunities to see fishing boats, and take abstracts of the pots and nets etc.
